Relaxation Therapy 

Relaxation therapy trains clients in methods that are proven to bring a sense of calm and well-being to both mind and body. Research has begun to show the significant benefits of relaxation and meditation practices in improving various conditions, such as anxiety, pain, depression, stress, insomnia and overall emotional health. Relaxation therapy instructs clients in the variety of relaxation techniques such as:

 

  • diaphragmatic breathing

  • progressive muscle relaxation

  • guided imagery

  • contemplation

  • mindfulness

 

Instruction occurs during sessions as well as at home using guided relaxation recordings.  Practice of the techniques is important. Symptom reduction can be best achieved by regular and ongoing practice. These tools can be used lifelong in the management of symptoms.
